Xbox One owners receive free gifts from Microsoft

Microsoft are offering it's first year Xbox One owners some gifts, including free games, Xbox Live subscriptions, and Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn.

Hey, you, yeah you! Have you bought an Xbox One console before 11th November 2014 in one of the 13 launch markets for the console? Well, you could be eligible to receive some freebies from Microsoft in celebration of the console's first birthday. Xbox One turns 1 on Saturday 22nd November.

Microsoft's Major Nelson announced the giveaway on his blog, and it does have a caveat. If you've opted in to receive Xbox Marketing emails before 11th Nov 2014, and bought your console before 1st Oct 2014, you'll receive a "personalized email" detailing the console's achievements over the past year. For everyone who bought between launch and 11th Nov 2014, is aged 17 years or older, and has over 10 hours logged on the console they'll receive the following:

  • A Year One Gamer Picture
  • New Xbox One backgrounds: A special Year One background as well as an exclusive Day One background for those who unlocked the Day One achievement
  • A Year One background image for use on Twitter, your desktop, etc.
  • A free rental of “Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn” (for a limited time)
  • A free rental of “Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods” movie and a sampler pack of “Dragon Ball Z” TV episodes (for a limited time, available in the U.S. and Canada only)

As well as all the above, Xbox One owners will randomly receive one of the below gifts that range from limited edition CoD: Advanced Warfare or Sunset Overdrive bundles, to 12-month Xbox Live subscriptions. Take a look at what you could get below:

Microsoft have said that in the last year since the Xbox One's launch players have earned a total Gamerscore of more than 11 billion, spending over 2 billion hours playing games.
