The best Nintendo Wii U deals for Christmas 2014

Wii U Black

UPDATED - The team at HITC have searched the internet to find the best deals this Christmas for those of you buying a Wii U.

Update 20/11/2014 12:22

I've edited the first paragraph. I initially stated that there weren't many exclusives on Nintendo's Wii U console. That's not true, there's plenty. I meant to state there aren't many Wii U console deals bundled with exclusive titles. Apologies for the confusion, and thanks to Caedus137 in the comments for pointing this out.

Original Story (with edits as above) - 19/11/2014

OK, so you're here to check out some decent Nintendo Wii U deals, that's apparent. But first let's be frank about Nintendo's Wii U console. There aren't a great deal of exclusive games bundled with the system right now, however there's bound to be more choice next year, as you can see here they've got a lineup of big titles planned for release in 2015.

That's not to say there's nothing to play on Wii U right now, definitely not, it just means you're a bit limited. However, you can actually play your old Wii games on the new Wii U. Just make sure you have a Wii controller, as the Wii U's gamepad doesn't support the older games.

We've listed some different places you can find Wii U deals, if you want to pick it up in your weekly shop, or even collect some GAME reward points. But for the cheapest offers we've found that Amazon is the place to go, but it lacks in choice. Please note that an internet connection may be required for some of the deals, as the bundled games may be digital download only.

Here's our top picks from the Amazon listings:

Amazon Nintendo Wii U 8GB 1

Nintendo Wii U 8GB Basic Pack - White - £169.99

OK, so to kick things off you've got your basic Wii U. It's the lowest price we could find at just £169.99, comes with a new Gamepad controller, and 8GB of storage. Perfect if you just want to upgrade and play your older Wii games, but remember you need a Wii controller to play those.

Once you start bundling games the console deals jump up to £229.00, but the console you're getting has 32 GB of storage this time around.

Nintendo Wii U 32GB with Super Mario Bros & New Super Luigi - £229.00

Nintendo Wii U 32GB with Mario Kart 8 - £235.00

You'll have to buy an extra Wii controller if you want to play multiplayer on Christmas day, and the new Wii U Pro controller seems to be ideal. Check out our review of Mario Kart 8 over here, it's definitely one of the console's best games.

Amazon Nintendo Wii U Windwaker HD

Nintendo Wii U 32GB with The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD - £239.86

Here are a couple of noteworthy GAME offers:

Black Wii U Premium with Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2 Special Edition and accesories - £289.99

You're getting three games in this deal. Mario Kart 8, along with Bayonetta 2 which actually comes with the original Bayonetta as well. Plus the added accessories are there to help protect your Wii U Gamepad's screen and help charge it up.

Black Wii U Premium with Mario Kart 8, Super Mario 3D World and accesories - £274.99

If you're looking for a full-on Mario experience, this bundle will have you covered. Racing in Mario Kart 8 along with classic platform action in 3D World.

Black Wii U Premium with Mario Kart 8 and Hyrule Warriors - £264.99

Hyrule Warriors is definitely one of the best games on Wii U right now, and you can check out our review over here.

Unfortunately that's your lot for the bundles. I did say there wasn't much choice, but don't write the Wii U off just yet. Like I said earlier, there's an impressive lineup heading in 2015. And you can also check out the current games library on it's own if you don't want to buy a game bundled with the console.

Head on over to Amazon which, again, appears to have to cheapest prices gameswise. There's the likes of Super Smash Bros. Wii U which is due for release at the end of November, or even the new LEGO Batman 3 which is out now.
