Predicting Newcastle United’s next five results in Premier League

Alan Pardew

As Premier League action resumes this weekend, we take a closer look at Newcastle United’s next five games against Queens Park Rangers, West Ham United, Burnley, Chelsea and Arsenal.

Newcastle United started the 2014-15 Premier League slowly and suffered some defeats that saw manager Alan Pardew’s future cast into doubt.

However, in the last few weeks leading up to the international break, the Magpies found their rhythm and started winning games.

Heading into this weekend’s round of matches in the English top flight, Newcastle find themselves eighth in the league table with 16 points from 11 matches, just two points behind fourth-placed West Ham United.

We now look at how Newcastle will fare in their next five Premier League games.

Newcastle United v Queens Park Rangers

QPR may be second from bottom in the Premier League table at the moment, but Harry Redknapp’s side have performed admirably in their last four or so matches.

Winning against Rangers will not be easy, but backed by a strong home crowd, Newcastle should just about edge it.

Prediction: 2-1

West Ham United v Newcastle United

West Ham United are on a high and are actually fighting for a European spot. Sam Allardyce’s side have surprised many with their performances this season, and one would expect them to win their home matches.

Newcastle will give West Ham a run for their money in London later this month, but they are unlikely to pick up a win at the Boleyn Ground. Maybe a point…

Prediction: 2-1

Burnley v Newcastle United

Newcastle will be expected to kick off December with victory over Burnley away from home, and they should pick up all three points with relative ease.

Burnley are currently at the foot of the Premier League table with just seven points from 11 matches and have won just once this season.

Prediction: 0-2

Newcastle United v Chelsea

Chelsea are still undefeated in the Premier League so far this season, and one would expect them to win at St. James’ Park next month. After all, Jose Mourinho’s side are much better and have more quality.

However, the Newcastle players are likely to step up their game and rise to the occasion when Chelsea come to town. A win is probably out of reach of the Magpies, but a draw is very much possible.

Prediction: 1-1

Arsenal v Newcastle United

Newcastle should head to Arsenal with confidence, mainly because the Gunners have shown this season that they are vulnerable at the Emirates Stadium.

Once again, winning will be a bit too much to ask of Pardew’s side, but the Magpies are certainly capable of earning a point in North London.

Prediction: 2-2
