Malky Mackay has taken charge of his first training session at Wigan Athletic since being named as manager.
The appointment has been greeted with a lot of scrutiny, but Mackay would have been avoiding any off-the-field distractions from media attention today.
The Scottish manager had his first chance to gauge the potential of his squad, as he put them through their paces on a brisk November morning in Wigan.
Wigan were expected to figure amongst the promotion candidates this campaign, but they are currently in the bottom three.
The position is a rather false one, though, as they have a squad which possesses far more quality than they are currently showing and Mackay's job will be to get the team playing to their maximum.
His first game since being installed comes this weekend, when Wigan take on high-flying Middlesbrough in what should be a tough test.
