Should Gutierrez take another crack at Europe or stay in the Americas.
It has been reported in recent weeks that Tottenham Hotspur are keen on the signature of Colombian striker Teo Gutierrez. The 29-year-old is reportedly available for a cut-price fee of around £6 million.
The striker reportedly said he would happily make a move to a Premier League team in the winter - ahead of his game against the USA at Craven Cottage this afternoon.
He reportedly stated, when quizzed on a potential move to Tottenham Hotspur:
“It’s very nice that important teams are interested in my services, I hope it can become true.
“It’s a beautiful style of football in England and I think any player would love to play here.”
The River Plate striker went on to downplay the rumours through Twitter. Clearly referring to the Tottenham rumours he stated:
"Enjoying the great moment of my selection and River plate, I am awarded and appreciated, discussing the rumours are not true."
It looks as though he is ready to stay in Argentina and yesterday he met an absolute footballing legend - Carlos Valderrama.
The former midfielder played 111 times for Colombia, scoring 11 goals. But it was his flamboyant playing style and stand-out features such as his large blonde afro that made him a special case for many a football fan. In fact he is still revered today.
Which is why the Tottenham target was happy to share this pic of the two meeting up via Twitter this week.
Valderrama never truly made it in Europe. Spells at Montpellier and Real Valladolid had their mixture of success and failure.
Gutierrez had a similar spell in Europe, one unhappy season at Trabzonspor before heading back to the Americas.
So if Tottenham fans want Gutierrez at the club, they will hope that Carlos 'The Kid' Valderrama did not give him to many career tips.
