Norwich City fans react to Mike Phelan's appointment as first team coach

Phelan returns to football for the first time since the end of Sir Alex Ferguson's reign at Manchester United, where he was the Scot's assistant.

Mike Phelan has returned to the club where he was once a captain and a coach by becoming a first team coach at Norwich City.

Canaries' boss Neil Adams has spoken of his delight of having Phelan as part of his coaching staff, and the appointment seems to have gone down well with the fans as they felt the coaching staff some experience and pedigree added to it.

Phelan is more well-known for his time as Sir Alex Ferguson's assistant at Manchester United - who ended his 27-year trophy packed reign in 2013, with Phelan leaving the club at the same time after not being approached by successor David Moyes.

But the appointment seems to be exciting the Norwich fans on the whole but there has been the inevitable speculation on twitter that Phelan could be a long term prospect for the manager's job at Carrow Road - but Neil Adams will hope that's a while off yet as he seeks to take the club back into the Premier League straight away after being relegated from the top flight last season.
