Derby County beat West Brom 1-0 in an under-21 game on Thursday, but it was at a cost.
Exciting prospect Mason Bennett was taken off the field on a stretcher, to the concern of his teammates and opponents.
Bennett became Derby's youngest ever player in 2011, and has recently been on loan at Bradford City, with competition for a first team place increased.
An England under-19 international, he took to Twitter after the game to update fans as to his condition.
Just left the hospital, nothing's broke... MRI scan tomorrow, on the other hand GREAT VICTORY onto the next round! #DCFC— Mason Bennett (@Masonbennett20) November 20, 2014
The good news clearly is there are no broken bones, but he is not out of the woods yet. Derby County could release an update on his condition via their website late this afternoon.
West Brom under-21 coach James Shan also took to Twitter to wish Bennett well.
Wish @Masonbennett20 a speedy recovery and hope no serious injury sustained— James Shan (@Jimmy_shan78) November 20, 2014
