West Ham United striker Diafra Sakho has ruled himself out of tonight’s 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Senegal and Botswana.
The 24-year-old has taken to social networking site Twitter to reveal that he is suffering from a back pain and will not take part in tonight’s Group G clash at the Stade Leopold Sedar Senghor in Dakar.
Dear fans, unfortunately my back pain makes me unfit for the game I'm as devastated as you are, but i'll be back! Thanks 4 your support!— Diafra Sakho (@iamdiafrasakho) November 19, 2014
Sakho’s absence is unlikely to affect Senegal as they should still be able to win against Botswana.
Even if Alain Giresse’s side lose tonight, then they will still secure a place in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations finals as they have assured themselves of a top-two finish in Group G.
Signed from Metz in the summer transfer window, Sakho has been a star for West Ham in the Premier League so far this season.
The striker has scored six goals and created as many chances in eight league appearances, while having a 56% pass accuracy and a 38% shot accuracy.
