Match to be played on Saturday 22nd November 2014 at 17:30. Venue: Emirates Stadium, London.
What a way for the Premier League to return following yet another international break. Arsenal host Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday in a match that will go a long way to showing which side – if either – can stake a realistic claim to keep league leaders Chelsea on their toes in the run-up to Christmas and beyond.
The two sides are currently just one point and one place apart in the table and Arsenal will want to get back to winning ways after enduring a series of capitulations that have raised questions yet again.
As for United, they will want to get over another bout of injury blows and put consecutive wins together following their victory over Crystal Palace last time out.
Arsenal injury concerns: Olivier Giroud has a 50 per cent chance of featuring after recovering from an ankle injury while fellow striker Danny Welbeck should feature despite a hamstring injury. Mikel Arteta is due back for this match but may be short of match fitness following a hamstring injury of his own.
Arsenal absences: David Ospina, Laurent Koscielny, Mathieu Debuchy, Mesut Ozil, Serge Gnabry and Abou Diaby are all out.
United injury concerns: David de Gea has a dislocated finger but should feature while Luke Shaw and Angel Di Maria will be hoping to overcome groin and ankle injuries respectively to play a part. Phil Jones and Jonny Evans are also fighting to be fit while Michael Carrick, Ashley Young and Rafael are all doubts.
United absences: Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind, Jesse Lingard and Radamel Falcao are all out for Louis van Gaal’s side.
Predicted starting line-ups:
Arsenal – Szczesny, Bellerin, Chambers, Mertesacker, Gibbs, Flamini, Wilshere, Ramsey, Cazorla, Sanchez, Welbeck
Manchester United – De Gea, Rafael, McNair, Smalling, Shaw, Herrera, Fellaini, Carrick, Mata, Rooney, van Persie
