Roberto Firmino netted his first goal for Brazil against Austria.

Highly rated midfielder Roberto Firmino netted his first international goal in front of watching Manchester United scouts.

The Brazilian midfielder was a goalscoring sensation for Hoffenheim last season, scoring an impressive 16 goals and providing 11 assists in the Bundesliga.

Firmino netted in Brazil's win away to Austria, the winning goal in a 2-1 win after Aleksandr Dragovic had equalised David Luiz's opener.

Despite signing a new deal with the German side last season, rumours over the 23-year-old's future persist, with The Metro claiming Manchester United are the latest side to show an interest.

Firmino's goal was well timed if that is the case. Austrian newspaper Heute reported this week that United scouts were due to be in attendance for the fixture, to watch players from both sides.

It was a quality strike, and one which will have made anybody watching on take notice and remember his name if they were not aware already.

The Red Devils need a more defensive midfielder than Firmino, yet they also require a player who can net goals from midfield, and he is just that. If they don't sign him, it won't be long until somebody else does.
