Newcastle and Rangers fans react on Twitter to Lovenkrands' retirement

Newcastle United and Rangers supporters have been reacting to the news that Peter Lovenkrands has retired from football today.

Newcastle United and Rangers fans have been unanimous in praising Peter Lovenkrands after he announced his retirement from football today.

Lovenkrands represented a range of clubs over his professional career, but arguably left his most lasting impressing on Newcastle and Rangers supporters.

He still is fondly remembered by all at St. James' Park and Ibrox and their fans have been reflecting on his career today, after he decided to retire from the game.

Lovenkrands has been looking for a new club since leaving Birmingham City this summer and he explained his reasoning behind hanging up his boots on Twitter earlier this morning.

The Danish international can now look back on a stellar career, which has seen him leave a lasting legacy on the clubs he played for.

Lovenkrands started his career at Akademisk Boldklub, but his talent was soon spotted and Rangers decided to bring him to Ibrox.

He made a name with the Scottish giants, playing for them for six years, before moving to Germany to represent Schalke.

His time in the Bundesliga wasn't quite as productive, but he did spent three decent years there before moving back to Britain in 2009.

At Newcastle he was a major reason behind their promotion from the Championship in 2009/10 and also scored some important goals when they returned to the Premier League.

He departed the North-East in 2012, before going on to play two seasons with Birmingham - scoring four times.

Here is the best reaction from Newcastle and Rangers fans on social media site Twitter to Lovenkrands' retirement.
