Paddy McNair has been largely used in defence. Can he now step up into midfield?
It will of course come as no surprise that Manchester United once again have a long list of injury problems to deal with ahead of their weekend fixture with Arsenal.
Louis van Gaal could be without 12 first team players after the international break.
David De Gea is tough and go for Saturday. He has dislocated a finger and is therefore a major doubt.
Radamel Falcao remains a doubt, Ashley Young , Marcos Rojo and Jesse Lingard are all definitely out. On top of that the likes of Luke Shaw, Phil Jones, Jonny Evans, Rafael and Angel Di Maria are all question marks for the game.
Of course there is Marouane Fellaini, he used to play this role at Standard Liege. While Darren Fletcher could also step in.
But perhaps it is time to turn to one of their youngsters yet again. The centre back problem is not idea. However Tyler Blackett and Chris Smalling can marshal things from there, with hopefully Evans or Jones back fit as well.
So Paddy McNair can move up into midfield, which is his preferred position.
When it became clear that the 19-year-old was going to be a fixture of the Manchester United first-team this season it was made known that in fact, his best position was further up the pitch.
With the injuries to Blind and Carrick Manchester United are once again struggling for numbers. Could McNair save the day once again?
