Manchester City latest: Teenager on loan move; duo in fitness race

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Etihad…

Manchester City duo David Silva and Vincent Kompany are in a race to be fit for the Blues’ Champions League match against Bayern Munich.

The Mirror reports that both the Spaniard and the Belgian are continuing to have treatment at the club as they look to recover in time for a vital European encounter with the Bundesliga club.

The report claims City skipper Kompany is more likely to be back while Silva remains a major doubt.

City boss Manuell Pellegrini will want both players for what is a crunch clash but he will not rush either back knowing how important they are for the club’s campaign as a whole.

In other news, City's Marcos Lopes has been talking about his time away from the Etihad.

The Manchester Evening News has published quotes from the youngster, who is currently on loan at French club Lille.

“It has been good so far though the injuries have been frustrating,” Lopes said after recently suffering a muscle injury.

“I’m only thinking of my time at Lille at present, but I’m obviously hoping I can continue to gain experience and use that when I return to City next season.”

Lopes has made 12 appearances for the Ligue 1 side so far, scoring one goal and providing one assist in that time.
