Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher was impressed with Jack Wilshere’s performance for England against Scotland.
The Arsenal star played in the holding midfielder role for the Three Lions in the friendly international at Celtic Park in Glasgow.
Wilshere was one of the better players for England in the 3-1 win, his passing range impressing many, including Carragher.
The 22-year-old’s pass for Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain’s goal was superb, and so was his vision and ability to sniff out dangers.
However, Wilshere is still not the finished article in the holding midfield role, and one should not get carried away by his performance against a Scotland side comprised of several Championship players.
What is clear, though, is that Wilshere is growing in the deeper midfield role. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger had identified that as the Englishman’s best position (click here to read more), and he needs to play the star in that position more regularly.
Wilshere must have praised, too, for willing to switch his position. He still has the attacking instinct, but as he progresses, he is likely to become more alert and better.
