Tottenham latest, Chiriches attracts Italian duo, striker dismisses January move

Vlad Chiriches

A selection of the latest stories involving Tottenham Hotspur this Wednesday evening.

Tottenham defender Vlad Chiriches is being pursued by two Serie A clubs according to the London Evening Standard, as it looks increasingly likely the 25-year-old will leave the club in the next transfer window.

Roma, along with Italian champions Juventus, are pursuing the centre-back who has yet to start a Premier League game under Mauricio Pochettino.

The Spurs boss is believed to be open to letting Chiriches leave, with a loan deal a possibility with an option to buy at the end of it.

One player who won't be moving to Spurs in January is Juventus forward Sebastian Giovinco but London24 report that there may be an opportunity for him to move to White Hart Lane in the summer.

There have been links of a potential swap deal involving Giovinco and Erik Lamela but they appear to have been dismissed.

The report picks up on quotes from Football Italia, where Giovnico comments on his first team opportunities at the club, which have become limited.

He said: “There’s something wrong, that’s obvious.

“The whole season has been a bit like that, so we’ll see what to do. “I don’t think I’ll move in January, we’ll see in June.”

Alan Mullery has been talking to the Tottenham website about Ryan Mason after stringing together a few appearances for the club this season, and has been impressed by what he has seen.

He said: “When I look at him he’s not the biggest but he’s got all the touch, control and ability and you can see that in the matches he’s played so far.

“He doesn’t hide and that shows the hunger he's got to go out and play."
