If Chelsea want Reus than Schurrle could be the ace up their sleeve.
Last night the news broke that Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho wanted to bring in Marco Reus to add to his motley crew of attacking midfield options.
The German international has been linked with moves to Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool over the years - but it would appear that Chelsea are now the front-runners for his signature, although Barcelona and Bayern Munich remain keen.
With a rumoured fee in the region of £20 million the superstar German would no doubt be a great signing for Chelsea, but Dortmund are likely to want more than just cash for his signature. This is where Chelsea may have a trump card.
With Reus at the club they no longer need Andre Schurrle, a player who is struggling to play Mourinho's style of football in recent weeks. So surely they could offer up a swap deal?
They signed Schurrle for around £18 million and he is well regarded in Germany, Jurgen Klopp would be more than happy to go for the deal. Reus is the better all round player, even if at times Schurrle is more effective. However with Chelsea continually trying to improve their financial fair play records a swap would also alleviate much of the strain an increase in wages would give Chelsea.
Schurrle for Reus is a no brainer, you would take Reus every time.
Chelsea might just have to do that if they want the edge on their rivals for Reus' signature.
