Mikel Arteta says he has been pleasantly surprised by Danny Welbeck since the striker signed for Arsenal.
The Gunners snapped up the 23-year-old from Manchester United on transfer deadline day, in a £16 million deal after the Red Devils signed Radamel Falcao on loan.
Welbeck has scored five goals in all competitions for Arsenal since signing, and has been a regular scorer for England in recent months.
Club captain Arteta told Arsenal's website he has been impressed with the striker's talents.
He said: "Personally I have been surprised by his technical capacity, the way he understands the game, his work rate.
“I rate him more now than I used to and this is a good sign because normally the opposite is true when you watch a player on a daily basis. I’m glad he is with us.
“He has got everything here to become one of the best strikers in the Premier League.”
While Arteta hails Welbeck's technical ability, oddly enough it is this which has previously been generally commended by fans, with his goalscoring rate in doubt instead.
His two Premier League strikes is a little underwhelming, but taking in the overall picture of Champions League and international games too, his start to the season has been a strong one.
Knowing he has the support of his teammates is huge, with fellow new boy Alexis Sanchez saying he 'loves' playing with him.
Olivier Giroud is set to soon return, but Welbeck has a strong side of keeping him out especially against his former club.
