Wojciech Szczesny has caused a stir with his recent shenanigans on FIFA 15.
It is an age old problem in the Arsenal team. Two positions that have never truly been filled to capacity - holding midfield and striker.
The arrival of Danny Welbeck this summer has helped the latter department but a world-class name has always been missing. Of course they did almost sign a young Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The story goes Arsene Wenger asked him to go on trial - a perfectly reasonable request of a then teenage Zlatan.
The Swede's response was, 'Zlatan doesn't do auditions' ... or something like that.
Then there is the power midfield player. Not since Alex Song departed for Barcelona have Arsenal really had a man for that position. They are linked constantly with signing one. Sami Khedira, William Carvalho, Lars Bender - but none ever seem to actually arrive.
One Arsenal player who understands that both are probably needed is goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny. The Pole has been on international duty this week - so spoke to some of the Polish journalists in his homeland. He even invited one into his home, discussing his latest escapades as Arsenal on FIFA 15 career mode.
In which he sold himself to Manchester United, in order to bring in Zlatan and a defensive midfielder:
"I thought, I’m going to buy a solid defensive midfielder for that [money]. I guess it was worth replacing Szczesny with Ibrahimovic."
With David Ospina in reserve Wenger take heed, your goalkeeper might be on to something.
