27-goal sensation, French star and more: Top players linked with Spurs this week

White Hart Lane 4

Here we take a look at the best five players to have been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur in recent days.

Tottenham Hotspur continue to be linked with a number of potential new signings.

The January transfer window is fast approaching and Mauricio Pochettino and Daniel Levy could well be wondering if their current domestic woes can be solved with a bit of post-Christmas shopping.

Here we take a look at the top five players to be linked with Tottenham this week.

Jay Rodriguez

The rumour that will not go away, the latest claim is that Southampton want two Tottenham players in any deal to bring Jay Rodriguez to White Hart Lane.

Those players are reportedly Harry Kane and Andros Townsend, and while the winger’s future at Spurs is in question, the England under-21 striker is surely going nowhere.

Andre-Pierre Gignac

Former Tottenham sporting director Damien Comolli claimed earlier this week that Andre-Pierre Gignac could be a target for Pochettino’s side given their current predicament.

The Marseille forward is in fine form this season, scoring 10 goals in his first 13 games for the club, and with a contract that expires this summer, he could be available on the cheap in January or for nothing just a few months later.

Sebastian Giovinco

Juventus forward Sebastian Giovinco is another player likely to be available for free in the close-season, with his contract at the Turin club soon to expire.

Tottenham continue to be linked with the 27-year-old, although he recently suggested he would not be heading elsewhere mid-season.

Andrej Kramaric

Yet another forward was linked with Tottenham this week in the form of Croatian front-man Andrej Kramaric.

The 23-year-old HNK Rijeka player has scored a quite remarkable 27 goals in 24 games this season and he is also out of contract in the summer.

Xherdan Shaqiri

Swiss international Xherdan Shaqiri found himself back in the rumour mill after his Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola reportedly said he was “not smart enough” to play for the German side.

The comment was published in 20 Minuten and it has led to more claims the supremely talented wide-man could be moving on sooner rather than later with Spurs a potential destination.
