Spurs morning news: £40m duo unlikely to arrive in January; Pritchard gets U21 cap

We bring you the latest news from Tottenham Hotspur this morning.

According to goal.com, Tottenham Hotspur are unlikely to secure the signings of Jay Rodriguez and Morgan Schneiderlin in January.

Although the £40 million-rated Southampton duo allegedly remain on Spurs' wishlist, a deal is reportedly not likely to be happening in the new year.

Instead, Tottenham may have to wait until next season to secure the pair, as they are both keen to see where the Saints end up this year after a brilliant start.

Alex Pritchard made his first England U21 start last night, as the side lost 3-2 to France.

Pritchard was substituted off after the first-half, with the scores locked at 2-2, so he was powerless to stop Kingsley Coman's late winner.

Harry Kane scored both of the Three Lions' goals in the match.

Swansea City coach Alan Curtis says that Spurs did not use Gylfi Sigurdsson to get the best out of him at White Hart Lane.

The Icelander has been in fine form since a move to the Liberty Stadium this summer and Curtis believes he was rather wasted at Tottenham.

"We play him in that No.10 shirt and I'm not sure Spurs used him to the best of his strengths," he told the South Wales Evening Post.
