George Moncur has tweeted his thanks to West Ham United after he agreed a permanent move to Colchester United.
The 21-year-old midfielder has been on loan at the League One side since the summer and today it was announced that the two clubs had agreed a deal for an undisclosed fee.
Moncur only made two appearances for West Ham’s senior side but previously featured more than 50 times for the Hammers’ under-21s.
This season the former England under-18 international has made 20 appearances for Colchester, scoring three goals to date.
The player is the son of former West Ham star John Moncur, but the youngster was unable to win a regular starting-berth after first arriving at Upton Park as a teenager.
Following the news, Moncur took to Twitter to write, “Buzzing to have signed for Colchester. New chapter begins; all glory to God. I am very grateful to be at such a great club.”
The player then went on to thank West Ham, writing, “And also like to thank West Ham United for what they have done to me. Wish you all the best.”
Colchester are currently 18th in League One and now Moncur will be focused on helping them up the table in the weeks and months to come.
