Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini’s father has had his say following claims the Belgian international elbowed Liverpool’s Joe Allen in a recent match against Wales.

The United player escaped punishment and now Fellaini senior has defended his son.

In quotes published by the Mirror, Abdellatif Fellaini said, “Marouane has, in fact, never injured anyone intentionally in his career.

“When he goes into battle with a small player, his elbows are level with the face of his opponent. Against his will.”

It is not the first time the United player has made headlines for such an incident, after receiving a booking for an elbow on Manchester City’s Pablo Zabaleta last season.

In other news, a player dubbed “the next Cristiano Ronaldo” has been linked with United after his current club reportedly put him up for sale.

The Daily Star reports that Galatasaray are prepared to sell Portuguese winger Bruma for just £8million in January.

The former Sporting Lisbon player was heavily linked with a move to United or Chelsea prior to his switch to Turkey, and having recovered from a serious injury that robbed him of much of last season it is now being reported he could be on his way.
