Liverpool fans react to latest Sturridge injury blow - "As fragile as our defence!"

Daniel Sturridge is set to be sidelined for even longer after another thigh injury.

Things just seem to be going from bad to worse for Liverpool and their manager Brendan Rodgers.

After splashing out around £100m on new talent this summer, Liverpool were expecting to challenge for the title once again this season, even after selling star striker Luis Suarez to Barcelona.

Yet it's been a nightmare start to the season, picking up just four wins in 11 games, leaving the Reds down in 11th place - already 15 points behind leaders Chelsea.

Many of the new signings have struggled, but the biggest blow for Rodgers has been the continued absence of hotshot striker Daniel Sturridge.

Sturridge, 25, hit 24 goals in just 33 games last season, but hasn't played for Liverpool since the end of August, suffering a thigh injury on international duty with England in September.

Sturridge hasn't kicked a ball in anger since, and reports tonight suggest that he's suffered yet another setback in his bid to return to the first team.

According to The Times, Sturridge has suffered another thigh injury, and it will certainly rule him out of this weekend's game against Crystal Palace, and possibly beyond.

It's yet another bad news story in what's becoming a nightmare season for Liverpool, and their fans were understandably downbeat on Twitter when the news broke.

Fans wondered whether Liverpool's season was over, whether Liverpool's training methods were good enough and even whether they could recall Divock Origi from his loan spell at Lille.

Here are some of the reactions on Twitter from Liverpool supporters after learning of Sturridge's latest injury setback.
