Jack Wilshere had arguably his best game in an England shirt as he helped the Three Lions defeat rivals Scotland.
The Arsenal midfielder laid on a sublime assist for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's opener, and looked at home in a deeper role than he usually plays for his club.
It's not the first time he has played at the base of Roy Hodgson's midfield diamond, and it appears he is beginning to blossom in the role.
With Arsenal in need of a defensive midfielder, his display gives manager Arsene Wenger more food for thought, but the poor quality of the opposition in Scotland should also be taken into account.
In addition to his assist, Wilshere made a team high three interceptions, as well as winning one tackle, giving away only two fouls.
He had two shots, none of which were on target, but his two successful dribbles were only matched by striker Wayne Rooney.
Wilshere's passing would need to improve however, completing only 75 per cent, a rate which is particularly low for a defensive midfielder.
His performance however was widely acclaimed, particularly by fans of his club. Here is a look at how Gooners reacted on Twitter to his display:

Last year, Rambo was leaving Wilshere in the shade. It's not quite as pronounced now, but it's certainly Jack > Aaron ATM #AFC— Andre Ferguson (@ShinobiAFC) November 18, 2014
Wilshere is unreal when playing from deep, sit him there with Aaron playing box-to-box and we're sorted. #AFC— Josh (@_Arsenal49) November 18, 2014
Tbh I prefer Wilshere as a deep lying play maker instead of B2B bc normally when he goes forward he runs into people #AFC— THEO WALCÖTT (@SanchezScores) November 18, 2014
