Southampton scout Paul Mitchell has reportedly handed in his notice at the south coast club.
Mitchell is being heavily tipped to link up with Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham Hotspur, with the Daily Echo claiming the scout has told the Saints of his intention to leave.
“Paul Mitchell is expected to be reunited with Mauricio Pochettino after handing in his notice at Saints,” reports the Echo.
“After days of speculation, the Daily Echo understands that Mitchell has told Saints of his intention to leave the club.”
Mitchell is accredited for finding some of the top talent currently, and formerly, at Southampton, which has helped raise his profile in the current game.
The move could be a factor that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is backing Pochettino, with reports over the weekend suggesting that Mitchell wanted assurances that he wasn’t going to be working with Technical Director Franco Baldini long term.
The Echo claims Southampton won’t make any formal complaint over the move and expect Mitchell to carry out the rest of his time with the club in a professional manner.
