The Netherlands took on Latvia yesterday and it was certainly a game to remember for Manchester United fans, for both the right and wrong reasons.
First of all the good. Robin van Persie has found himself in for criticism recently. Some are saying the Manchester United man may have passed his peak, he may be over the hill, perhaps he is losing his touch.
So every goal he scores is a middle finger to that viewpoint. He scored in the opening ten minutes of the game as The Netherlands went on to win the game 6-0.
Former Chelsea defender Jeffrey Bruma was also on the scoresheet as Arjen Robben and Klaas Jan Huntelaar also starred in a sensational performance.
The Latvian's had no chance of getting the result they needed and The Netherlands finally look back on track after a poor start under new boss Guus Hiddink.
However, it was not all plain sailing for Manchester United fans.
In the 19th minute their £13.8m signing Daley Blind crumbled to the ground clutching his knee in agony. Despite walking from the field he still looked visibly in a lot of pain, his face contorted in agony as he trudged off the field.
Early assessments have varied from ruling him out for six weeks to the entire season. A scan later today will show the damage done to the medial ligament.
Manchester united fans will be hoping for the best.
