Alan Pardew has changed a number of Newcastle United fans' opinions on his management during the past few weeks, but he is not the only member of their squad to have made a drastic turnaround.
Paul Dummett has made his critics think twice about their words on his performances after some commanding displays at the heart of the Magpies' defence.
Although the academy-prospect has played much of his career at full-back, he has performed brilliantly in a more central role, helping his team to five victories in a row.
The 23-year-old has proven that he is ready to make the step-up to first-team regular at St. James' Park but he was quick to praise his teammates support as the reason for his dramatic improvement.
He believes that having the chance to play alongside someone as experienced as Fabricio Coloccini is aiding his development, and paid testament to the Argentine international today.
“He is such an experienced player," he said to the Chronicle. "Playing alongside him is going to help me improve."
“Every game I am playing I am learning."
The Newcastle defence has been the major reason behind their recent form and they will be looking to maintain that after the international break.
The side have conceded just once in their last five matches, as Pardew has adopted a counter-attacking style.
It provides them a platform to build upon when club football returns, and they take on Queen Park Rangers in what looks another winnable fixture at the weekend.
