Manchester United are reportedly considering going on a Far East tour as they prepare to announce losses of up to £48million.

The Telegraph reports that the losses are in effect due to United’s failure to qualify for European competition after last year’s disappointing campaign.

As a result, it is being claimed that Louis van Gaal’s side are contemplating a friendly against AC Milan in January, with the Middle East being tipped as a possible venue.

An additional end-of-season tour in May has also reportedly been touted, especially if United do not reach this season’s FA Cup final.

In other news, Argentina coach Gerardo Martino has been speaking about the current form of United’s record-signing Angel Di Maria.

The former Real Madrid star burst onto the scene at Old Trafford, scoring three goals and setting up four more in his first six appearances. But recently Di Maria has gone off the boil, failing to score in his last three matches.

Martino believes he knows why that is, and revealed as much in comments published by the Mirror.

“I think the form that he is showing now is possibly more typical of a player going to a new club than the very first few games when he burst onto the scene and did so well.”

That may well be the case, with Di Maria needing to settle and get used to his new teammates, especially when you consider recent matches have been intense affairs against Chelsea and Manchester City.
