Chelsea morning news: High praise for Mourinho, £15m striker plans dented

A round up of news stories this morning about Chelsea.

Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka says Jose Mourinho is the best coach in the world.

The Championship manager is full of nothing but admiration for his Premier League colleague.

“He (Mourinho) is the best coach in the world. He has shown it. And tactically he is a hundred steps ahead of the others,” Karanka is quoted by the Mail.

Chelsea plans to try and sign Seydou Doumbia from CSKA Moscow this winter have reportedly hit the rocks.

The forward has apparently opened talks with the Russia giants over a new long term contract.

The Blues had been linked with a £15 million move for the player to bolster their attack.

Chelsea legend Johnny Paton says Diego Costa would have excelled under Brian Clough.

Costa has made a great start to life in the Premier League following a big money move from Atletico Madrid last summer.

“Clough knew the most important thing in football was scoring goals and how you do it is irrelevant. You won't lose possession if it goes in the net and Diego Costa is one of the players who understands that,” he said.
