Arsenal morning news: Wenger on 'waste of time', Campbell's Gunners loyalty

Arsene Wenger Press Conference - 18/02/2014

A round up of news stories this morning about Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger has revealed why he’s never taken up the opportunity to manage the French national side.

The Arsenal boss has confirmed he’s had the opportunity to manage his country on more than one occasion.

“There are only two interesting things; the World Cup and the Euros. The rest is a bit of a waste of time,” he told beIN Sport.

Arsenal striker Joel Campbell says he’s not furious he hasn’t been playing more for the club.

Recent reports suggested the Costa Rican was discontented with the way he’d been used by Arsene Wenger.

“What they have been saying is not true, I'm very calm. I have not been furious. Obviously, yes, I would like to be playing, but that's something that has to be earned day by day,” said Campbell.

German international Christoph Metzelder has suggested that Lukas Podolski may have no other choice than to leave Arsenal.

Podolski’s future at the Gunners has been in doubt due to Arsene Wenger’s reluctance to use him so far this season.

A possible return to the Bundesliga could be on the cards.
