Tottenham Hotspur signing Yedlin told to miss next USA game for important reason

Tottenham Hotspur's DeAndre Yedlin will miss the USA's friendly with Ireland.

DeAndre Yedlin will not feature for USA against Ireland on Tuesday.

The Tottenham Hotspur newbie is one of four players released from the squad by Jurgen Klinsmann after the 2-1 loss to Colombia at Craven Cottage.

This is due to Yedlin being needed by Seattle Sounders for the MLS play-offs.

They take place next Sunday, with Yedlin's Sounders set to face LA Galaxy.

Galaxy have also managed to get ex-Spurs striker Robbie Keane released from the Ireland squad to take on the Sounders.

It's the first leg of the Western Conference Playoff finals in LA, with Seattle hosting the return fixture a week later.

For the winner, the victor of the Eastern Conference tie between New England Revolution and New York Red Bulls will await.

Seattle Sounders weblog Sounders at Heart report also that Yedlin was spotted with an ice pack on his knee after the game against USA, but is not thought to have sustained any serious injury.

The 21-year-old played 85 minutes of the game, the first half at right-back and the second in midfield, with Teo Gutierrez netting Colombia's winner shortly after his substitution.

Yedlin is scheduled to join Tottenham in the summer of 2015, although talk persists that Spurs could look to bring him in this coming January.

This may depend on Kyle Walker not suffering any further setback in his own recovery from injury, ahving finally returned to training last week having not featured at all in 2014/15.
