Manchester United morning news: £47m for target; star admits he 'refused to work'

Mats Hummels 2 Germany

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

Manchester United have reportedly been told that alleged defensive target Mats Hummels will cost them £47million.

That is the claim of the Sun on Sunday as United look to bolster their defensive ranks either in January or more likely next summer.

The German international is widely regarded as one of the best centre-backs in Europe and would add real quality to a United back-line that has been hit by summer departures, injuries and suspensions.

In other news, Marcos Rojo has admitted that he refused to work for a spell at Sporting Lisbon as he waited to see if a move to United went through this summer.

The incident was widely reported at the time and the Argentine later apologised to his former fans and in quotes published by Goal.com the left-back said, “…when it seemed the transfer would not happen then I refused to work with Sporting.”

But thankfully for the player and his new club, he would ultimately complete his move.
