Hiddink on Daley Blind knee injury - He could have torn medial ligament

Guus Hiddink

Daley Blind has suffered a knee injury whilst on international duty this evening.

Manchester United are probably sick of the international break. First Michael Carrick had to pull out of the England squad with an injury, then David De Gea dislocated his finger playing for Spain.

Now, it is bad news regarding £13.8 million summer signing Daley Blind.

He was in action for The Netherlands this evening against Latvia, but limped out of proceedings after 19 minutes of the game.

It looked bad. A knee injury is never good and Manchester United fans would immediately have been worried over his potential lay-off.

Unfortunately, it does indeed look bad.

Holland manager Guus Hiddink, who of course took over from Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal this summer, has confirmed that the injury looks serious.

He told reporters after the game:

"It doesn't look good. It's his medial ligament. It could be a strain, but it could also be a tear. So that's a big blow."

Those words certainly do not sound good for Manchester United, who have been plagued with injury problems this season.

They will be hoping the early assessment proves to be false.
