Not many Arsenal fans will remember the name Georgios 'George' Efrem. The 25-year-old Cypriot was at Arsenal from the age of 15 and was at the club for three years. You may have never heard of him, fair enough, because he never featured for Arsenal.
After three years of no first-team football he left the club to join Rangers.
Since then he has gone on to move back to his homeland, becoming a regular at Omonia after joining in 2009.
This summer he got his big domestic move to Cypriot powerhouse APOEL Nicosia and his career is certainly on an upward trajectory.
Today was yet another landmark for the player, as he inspired Cyprus to victory in the European Championships qualifier this evening.
They thrashed fellow minnows Andorra 5-0 with Efrem bagging his first international goal in the process.
He tapped in from close range to make it 2-0 on the night, but he was not done there.
Not content with just one goal, he went on to score two more and bag a hat-trick!
The former Arsenal youngster danced past two defenders before scoring the third goal of the game, his second.
He then smashed in to an empty net after a decent save from the Andorra keeper.
He would never have made it at Arsenal. But still, it is always good to see a former player doing well.
