Newcastle United's popular Argentinian midfielder shows off the tattoo he got to celebrate battling back from cancer.
A week after it was announced that Jonas Gutierrez would be returning to Newcastle United next month following his all-clear from cancer, the thirty-one-year-old has revealed the tattoo he got to celebrate his return to health.
Throughout the course of his treatment for testicular cancer, for which he underwent an operation and two rounds of chemotherapy after the disease spread to other parts of his body, Gutierrez kept the extent of his illness from the public eye. However, since being released from hospital and getting the all clear, more information about his cancer fight has come to light and Gutierrez has begun to acknowledge the severeness of his battle.
Now, in order to celebrate his recovery, Gutierrez has tweeted a photo of the tattoo he got to mark the occasion.
The lines are from Eminem's 2010 single 'No Love', and read "I'm alive again, more alive than I had been in my whole life" along with a date, presumably of his all-clear, underneath.
After getting his treatment and convalescing in his native Argentina, Gutierrez is now set to return to the Newcastle squad before Christmas in an attempt to return to fitness and challenge for a first team place once again.
