Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana believes his teammate Rickie Lambert will come good at Anfield.
The striker has not scored since his move from Southampton but his fellow summer arrival knows exactly what he can do from their time together at St Mary’s.
“He is a massive asset to Liverpool and he has still got a lot to give.”
There is no doubt that on form the 32-year-old is one of the best goal-scorers in the country, as his 115 goals in 229 Southampton appearances proved. But he has been used sparingly by Brendan Rodgers so far, making 12 appearances but only appearing for a total of 343 minutes – compared to Mario Balotelli’s 996 minutes to date.
In the weeks and months to come Liverpool need to pick a side that is going to fire them up the table and bring them out of their worrying malaise; especially when they are embarking on a series of matches they are more than capable of winning.
This could be Lambert’s time to shine, and Lallana for one knows he is up to the task.
