Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen has received praise from his international manager following Denmark’s win against Serbia on Friday.
The Danes won 3-1 in a vital Euro 2016 qualifying match despite falling behind in only the fourth minute after Zoran Tosic had netted for the hosts.
However a brace from former Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner and one from defender Simon Kjaer ensured Morten Olsen’s side won.
Speaking after the match, Olsen reserved special praise for the Tottenham play-maker, who had come in for scrutiny following his previous showing against Portugal.
The 22-year-old has not had the best of starts to his second season at Tottenham, but then he is not the only one of Mauricio Pochettino’s -ude currently underperforming.
Eriksen has scored three goals in 13 appearances for Spurs but is yet to provide a single assist and his all-round influence has not been what is expected of a player with such talent.
Having stepped up for his country it can only be hoped that he now returns to White Hart Lane and does the same thing for his club, using his undeniable talent to pull Tottenham out of their current malaise.
