Robin van Persie is pleased to be nominated for the FIFA Pusks Award for 2013-14.
FIFA released their list of nominees for this years 2014 Puskas Award on Thursday with two Premier League players in the running for the award, which rewards the best goal in world football this year.
Chelsea striker Diego Costa was nominated for an overhead kick he scored for Atletico Madrid last season.
The other nomination was Manchester United striker Robin van Persie - but not for a goal he scored for the club.
The Manchester United striker scored a wonderful goal for the Netherlands at the World Cup. He flew onto the end of a future Manchester United team-mates cross in the shape of Daley Blind, before scoring a fantastic diving header to start an epic fightback against reigning world champions Spain.
To be nominated for the award is certainly a privilege and Van Persie took to Twitter yesterday to highlight how happy he was with the nomination.
Now he will hope to beat off the competition and be awarded as the best goal-scorer from the past 12 months.
Very honoured with the nomination of "the goal of the year worldwide" - the FIFA Puskas award. 1/2— Robin van Persie (@Persie_Official) November 14, 2014
