David Moyes is back in management after his woeful campaign as the successor to Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson.
Spanish side Real Sociedad have obviously remembered, with fondness, his time at Everton prior to the United spell and decided to give him a chance to turn around fortunes at the Anoeta.
One man who is looking forward to working alongside him is former QPR midfielder Esteban Granero. The talented midfield operator has been talking to the press in Spain about Moyes and the effect he might have on the Real team.
And he thinks, despite the Manchester United struggles, that Moyes will be a hit in San Sebastian.
He told Diario AS:
“We were looking forward to the arrival of the new Coach and we have confidence in his abilities and experience.
“We are confident he will take us forward. It represents a new cycle for La Real and hopefully a successful one.
“Moyes is a very experienced Coach and I remember playing against Everton was very difficult and they had clear ideas, and that speaks well of the Coach.
“Hopefully he has as long and as successful a career in Spain as he did in England.
Granero also ruled out suggestions that Moyes would not have the knowledge of La Liga necessary to be a hit in Spain, and that the language barrier will also not be a problem for the Scot:
“I’m convinced Moyes knows La Liga as well as anyone. You only have to know his career to know he is crazy for football and my experience is that La Liga is followed a lot in England.
“I don’t think the language will be a problem. It’s something that can be solved and I’m sure he will soon learn the language. I don’t think it will be a big problem.”
Time will tell if Granero's faith in the former United boss is rewarded.
