Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen has said that he is ready to step up for Denmark tonight.
The 22-year-old will be the creator-in-chief for the Danes against Serbia at the Red Star Belgrade in Belgrade in the Euro 2016 Group I qualifier.
“There will always be pressure on us,” InsideFutbol quotes Eriksen as telling Ekstra Bladet. “But it is clear that what was said last time has created a greater urgency, though it has been this way for a while.
“I want to take responsibility. Some days you will succeed, some days you won’t succeed.”
Tottenham fans should be delighted with Eriksen’s approach to tonight’s match because it shows that he can step up and rise to the occasion.
The former Ajax star has been in underwhelming form so far this season and has left a lot to be desired, but his talent and quality cannot be disputed.
One of the most promising young attacking midfielders in Europe, Eriksen does have it in himself to step up for Tottenham and help them earn positive results.
Playing for Denmark seems to be a matter of pride for Eriksen, and his willingness to “take responsibility” and not be bogged down by pressure bodes well for Tottenham.
