The top five players linked with Tottenham Hotspur this week: Moreno, Schneiderlin and more

White Hart Lane 5

Espanyol, West Brom, Southampton and Wolfsburg stars all feature.

Mauricio Pochettino faces one of the most difficult tests for any manager as he looks ahead to the winter transfer window with Tottenham Hotspur.

The Argentine has key areas in his first team squad, which he needs to address this winter, which will put Spurs in a better position looking ahead to the second half of the season.

Here are five of the best players linked with the club from the past week.

Hector Moreno (Espanyol)

Moreno dropped the biggest come and get me plea of any Tottenham linked target this week. He’s made it clear that he wants to work with Pochettino again, after crediting the Spurs boss with his development when they worked together in La Liga.

Saido Berahino (West Brom)

Whenever there is a story about Berahino at the moment, Tottenham’s reported interest in the player is brought up. Reports from early this week suggested the Baggies are trying to tie him down on a new contract but Spurs will still hope they can do a deal.

Morgan Schneiderlin (Southampton)

This isn’t the first time Spurs fans would have read about links with signing Schneiderlin and it won’t be the last time. The French midfielder is thought to be a priority target for Pochettino after he tried, and failed, to sign him numerous times last summer.

Jay Rodriguez (Southampton)

Franco Baldini believes that if he can help Spurs pull off a deal for the England striker, his job will be secure. The Saints star is rated at £15 million and recent reports suggest the south coast club are trying to tie him down on a new long term contract.

Ricardo Rodriguez (Wolfsburg)

This would be a weird deal considering Spurs already have Ben Davies and Danny Rose as solid left-back options, with Jan Vertonghen at left centre half. However, Spurs remain linked with him as talkSPORT revealed interest from Real Madrid this week.
