Rio Ferdinand has been discussing the Dutch international this afternoon on Twitter.
This summer Manchester United spent plenty of money on the renovation of a squad that had grown tired under Sir Alex Ferguson and lost hope under Sir David Moyes.
Louis van Gaal made plenty of signings and the club also saw plenty leave. Today, one that left was praising one who arrived.
Rio Ferdinand's influence at Manchester United waned last season, with injury and form preventing him from his best efforts at Old Trafford. Arriving to help strengthen the team was £13.8 million signature Daley Blind from Ajax.
The holding midfielder has been in great form since his arrival at United and his influence is certainly impressing a player he might have called team-mate a year earlier.
Rio took to Twitter to say about Blind:
It is interesting to hear Ferdinand state that the Dutchman is some how following in his footsteps. It is certainly true that Blind is seeming to improve his game from what was necessary at Ajax.
If he continues to perform in this way, praise from Rio will not be the only praise he receives.
