'Bottom' bench to be re-installed to commemorate the late comedy genius, Rik Mayall.

Hammersmith Council have announced that a bench will be placed in the original position of the famous 'Bottom' bench to commemorate the life of late comedy legend and star of Bottom Rik Mayall.

The announcement was made following a petition from over 7000 fans of the hit comedy series to have the bench replaced. The Original bench had been removed some time ago and Rik Mayall had expressed his sadness, prior to his death, that it was no longer there.

Bottom Bench

The bench will be unveiled today, Friday 14th November 2014, and is situated at the junction of Queen Caroline Street and Hammersmith Bridge Road, Hammersmith, London.

A Plaque will be added to the bench with the engraving below;

At the memorial there will be a tribute read by Rik Mayall's Young Ones Co-Star Nigel Planer along with tributes from fans. There will also be a comedy sing along to some of the records that Mayall had taken part in including "The Young Ones", "Living Doll" and "Because I'm Evil".

Rik Mayall passed away on 09th June 2014 from a Heart Attack.
