On this day: Ozil could have joined PSG; Nani on Januzaj

On the 14th November 2013 what were the stories that dominated the football landscape? Including Arsenal and Manchester United.

Let's cast our eyes back to this exact day, the 14th November 2014, but a year earlier.

What were the main tales from that day? What big events were happening in Premier League football?

Here are some of the big scoops from the 14th November 2013…

Ozil and PSG

A year ago today and Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was making it clear that Arsenal had beaten the likes of Paris Saint-Germain to the signature of Mesut Ozil in the summer.

Arsenal had snapped up Ozil for £42.5 million on transfer deadline day, from under the nose of PSG and co:

"PSG wanted Ozil but I had an advantage because I’d already had that contact [when Arsenal tried to sign the player from Werder Bremen in 2010].

"He came to my house and he decided quickly. The first contact [with Ozil] happened at my place, for discretion. He decided in 24 hours."

Ozil has since gone on to struggle on a regular basis at Arsenal, with many fans perhaps hoping PSG had got the German international.

Nani on Januzaj and Zaha

Manchester United winger Nani was waxing lyrical about some of the young players at United.

He was singing the praises of both Adnan Januzaj and Wilfried Zaha:

“They are both great players and have showed great character. They both have good personalities as well.

“They have been given a chance to play in the first team and have impressed because they have lots of quality. It is normal for a young player to show good things when they have the right personality and mentality.”

Since then only Januzaj remains. Nani is on loan at Sporting Lisbon and Zaha Crystal Palace - so both players have returned to their former clubs.
