Liverpool defender Jose Enrique has given a positive injury update after taking part in a behind-closed-doors match on Friday.
The Spanish left-back has been suffering with a knee injury this season and has not been in the squad for the Reds’ last five matches.
Enrique missed both Champions League group matches against Real Madrid along with Premier League games against Hull City, Newcastle United and Chelsea.
In that time, Liverpool failed to record a single win and there are murmurings of discontent among the Anfield faithful as some of the players brought in by Brendan Rodgers this summer have failed to perform as one would expect.
After the international break those players will be hoping for a new start, as will Enrique who confirmed on Twitter that he played 45 minutes of a friendly match and that he was “feeling great," before adding, "My knee feeling perfect.”
The 28-year-old now has just over a week to build up his match fitness in the hope of being involved in Liverpool’s next match, away to Crystal Palace.
Happy to play 45 min in a close door game today at melwood. Feeling great and my knee feeling perfect. Thanks a lot for the support— José enrique (@Jesanchez3) November 14, 2014
