Tottenham Hotspur legend Jurgen Klinsmann has sine advice for DeAndre Yedlin ahead of his move to the club.
The young Seattle defender will link up with Tottenham either this January or next summer and the American national team coach has given him some words of advice.
“To play consistently in the Premier League it will take a lot of work, but he is willing to put that work in and in time, he will do his job,” Klinsmann is quoted in an exclusive with the Standard.
However, far from seeing that as a problem, the German has suggested that Yedlin has all of the qualities needed to become a better player at Spurs, transforming himself as he adapts to life in England.
He’s backed the youngster to listen to the advice of Mauricio Pochettino and to the more experienced Premier League players he’ll link up with at White Hart Lane.
“He is an exciting kid and he is thrilled to come to Tottenham. He is a kid who wants to learn. He will listen to the coaching staff and to his team-mates. He has a tremendous amount of talent.”
One of the suggested areas that Spurs could use an extra player this winter is in their defence.
Eric Dier’s recent comments about switching to centre back for the club show there is ample cover in the right-back slot and Yedlin come in will only improve the options on the right hand side of Tottenham’s defence.
Klinsmann’s comments certainly suggest that his Premier League move is imminent so it’s important for Pochettino to protect him and nurse him into the team if he does make the move in January and not this summer.
