Arsenal morning news: Matija Nastasic offered for £5m; Chambers on England

Mathieu Debuchy and Arsenal celebrate (Chambers included)

All the latest news and gossip from the past 24 hours at The Emirates Stadium.

Manchester City have offered both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur the chance to sign their defender Matija Nastasic, according to Goal.

The deal would also only set them back around £5 million as the Premier League champions look to move on a player who has become an outcast at the club, despite his obvious talent.

Calum Chambers has been discussing playing for England to Arsenal.com. The £16 million summer signing from Southampton recently made his England debut against Norway and is again in the squad for upcoming games against Slovenia and Scotland.

And he says the presence of other Arsenal players, such as Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck certainly helps him settle in at international level:

“Making my debut was an amazing occasion. I was nervous and a little bit scared but everyone put me at ease. I had all of my family and friends there to support me, and I was excited to win my first cap.

“It nice to be on England duty with the Arsenal boys. We all sit round the dinner table and it’s a good laugh there. There’s different training but we all really enjoy it and it’s nice to be there with them.”

Lukas Podolski has been urged to leave Arsenal by Jogi Low in recent weeks. But Poldi has also been reminiscing on happier times - winning the World Cup with his nation this summer.

He told Arsenal's official website:

“You don't believe it [when you hold the trophy aloft],” he told Arsenal Player. “I think you believe it when you stop playing football.

“I always enjoy looking at the pictures and videos, but when you stand there with the cup, it's something special. It's amazing...

“We were together for eight weeks but we stuck together as a team, and that was the key reason for winning the World Cup. We were a team and won it as a team.”
