15 goals in 20 games Benik Afobe sees his future at Arsenal

Benik Afobe is having a great time at MK Dons but sees his future at Arsenal.

There has been plenty of talk this season over the striker department at Arsenal. They snapped up Danny Welbeck in the summer and Olivier Giroud was already present. The return of Joel Campbell from his loan spell at Olympiakos and the apparent emergence of Yaya Sanogo meant they should have been well stocked up top.

The major signing of Alexis Sanchez also helped matters in that area.

With that in mind they allowed Benik Afobe a loan deal away from the club. After several months of struggles with a series of knee injuries the young Englishman was finally set to get a chance of proving himself elsewhere.

Arsenal therefore agreed for him to spend the season at MK Dons. At 21-years-old this was his final opportunity to prove himself worthy of a chance at the club.

And he has certainly been in top form at Stadium:MK.

He has bagged 15 goals in 20 appearances in Milton Keynes - which has got some Arsenal fans very excited about his potential future.

Now Afobe has been talking to Arsenal.com about his loan spell and hopes for the future at Arsenal.

He said:

“It’s been really easy [to settle]. From day one the manager showed a lot of faith in me and I’m really happy with the way they’ve treated me. I’m really enjoying my time here.

“Sometimes when something clicks, it clicks. I’ve done nothing different to any of my other loans in terms of preparation and hard work - I’ve always done that. I just think it’s about the timing and being in the right place at the right time...

"At the moment I’m enjoying my football but I want to go back to Arsenal in the summer with my head held high and happy with the season I had. I want to prove them right because I know they believe in me.”

So it seems Afobe is ready to make it at Arsenal, should the opportunity be afforded to him. If he carries on his current scoring form, that becomes increasingly likely.
