Manchester United latest: Injury boost for star; Italian reportedly tracked

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from Old Trafford…

Robin van Persie has taken to Instagram to reveal just how much he enjoyed his latest training session with the Netherlands.

Previous reports had suggested the Manchester United striker could be injured for Holland’s Euro 2016 qualifier against Latvia this weekend having been rested for the friendly against Mexico. But it seems those rumours are wide of the mark, with van Persie writing, ‘Really enjoyed our training session today.

“Passing and finishing drill, finished the training with an intense 4v4 game.”

That will be good news for those United fans hoping the striker returns to Old Trafford ready to help fire them back up the table, starting with a trip to his former club Arsenal.

In other news, Italian website Tuttosport claims former United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is trying to help bring Juventus player Claudio Marchisio to Old Trafford.

That said, the report goes on to claim the midfielder is perfectly happy where he is and the suggestion could be that the latest rumours are merely a way to ensure the player gets a new deal in Turin, with his current contract expiring in 2016.
