Luke Shaw hails Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal for helping him improve

The left-back is clearly pleased to be working under the task master at Manchester United.

Manchester United splashed out a world record fee for a teenager on Luke Shaw this summer, in what was a reported club signing. The £30 million deal bringing him to United was overseen by Ed Woodward and Ryan Giggs - before Louis van Gaal was appointed the club's new manager.

So when he arrived, fears grew that LvG might not be a fan of the player.

Those fears soon intensified, with good reason.

He first called Shaw 'unfit' leading to many questioning whether Shaw had the potential to make it at a club like United.

Then came the arrivals of Marcos Rojo and Daley Blind - two players who both play at left-back.

But it is now clear that they were signed to play in different positions and as for Shaw, he is finally proving his worth. After an injury problem ruled him out for about a month he has come back a lot stronger. In recent games he has been one of their best performers and United fans are looking forward to what the future brings for this talent.

This week Shaw held an Instagram takeover on the official Manchester United account and one of the topics of discussion was Van Gaal.

And Shaw's answer was very positive:

“Louis van Gaal has had a massive influence on me. He’s helped me a lot, as have all the coaching staff. They’re always trying to push me to help me improve.”

United fans will hope Van Gaal continues to get the best out of the talented Shaw.
